Edward Freeman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder's Memorial Gardens, Inc. - Gray on Dec. 24, 2024.
Edward Paul "Butch" Freeman, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home in Jonesborough, TN, surrounded by family. Born on May 18, 1949, in Johnson City, TN, Butch was a lifelong resident of Washington County and the son of the late James J. & Myrtle Laws Freeman.
Butch was a proud graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and furthered his education at Graham Bible College, enriching his strong foundation of Protestant faith that guided him throughout his life. He carried his commitment to community and service into his work with the State of Tennessee, where his gregarious nature and steadfast spirit left an indelible mark on those he worked alongside.
His family remembers Butch as the funny and faith-filled patriarch who brought joy and strength to their lives. Though he is predeceased by his parents; his brother Joe Freeman; and his father-in-law Paul Garber, his memories will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved loving wife, Kerry Freeman; son, Joseph Freeman; grandson, Noah Freeman; daughter, Emily Elbe (Justin); grandchildren, Parker and Hannah Elbe; sister, Sue Hale (Ronnie); mother-in-law, Joan Garber; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
An avid reader with a passion for the outdoors, Butch's adventurous spirit was matched only by the courage with which he lived his life. He never wavered in his deep-seated beliefs and his commitment to his loved ones.
A committal service to honor Butch's memory will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Liberty Church, 844 Liberty Church Rd, Kingsport, TN 37663.
Snyder's Memorial is honored to serve the family of Mr. Edward Paul "Butch" Freeman.
