Mr. Gattie was my 8th grade teacher in Long Memorial Elementary School in Saddle Brook. He was such a kind man, and took the time to know us all as individuals. It takes someone special to be remembered for such a long time. My condolences to his family, may memories you have as well as memories from others help sustain you at this time

Worked at the Meadowlands with Ed at The Izod Center, Giants Stadium and my mom taught with him in Saddle Brook. Everyone loved working with him and he was a great friend to everyone he worked with at school and the meadowlands .

Great memories from grammar school and as my basketball coach. Not sure he would be able to get away with some of his shenanigans! Prayers to his family in this tough time.

Mr. Gattie was my 8th grade Teacher at Long Memorial School. He always had a big smile, was kind to all the students, and couldn´t wait to go to the gym to start basketball practice for the guys! He worked with my Mom on the PTA to do good for the students. Fond memories. It was a time when kids could be kids. Deepest condolences to his family. Laura Salmanowitz-Slawson

I have so many fond memories of Eddie I don´t even know where to begin. The picture tells it all - he always had a smile on his face. As a basketball, coach and mentor, he had such a great influence on so many. all these years later, I still laugh when I remember after practices, and he would always have one of his Salem cigarettes. And I can´t forget all the parties we had together. there are so many more memories, I can´t put them all in. To Marie and his family, when you are reminiscing and looking at pictures, sure there will be tears, but knowing Eddie he would only want them to be happy tears.
God bless & love always, Steve & Margo Larkin

So sad to hear this, RIP Mr. Gattie. He was such an awesome teacher! I have so many wonderful memories of his class, a time when kids were allowed to be kids and the teachers made everyday a fun time to come to school! Memories will last forever

Mr. Gatti was my 8th grade teacher at Long School Elementary in Saddle Brook - 1968. After school in the winter session he would give me a ride to the high school gym. He was there to coach basketball and I was showing up to attend the high school wrestling practice. He was a wonderful teacher and coach!
