Edward Leslie Gil Jr.

Edward Leslie Gil, Jr. resident of Hackettstown, NJ was born on June 3, 1970, in New Orleans to Edward Leslie Gil, Sr. and Iris Marie Babb-Gil, and passed away on August 26, 2025, in New Orleans, LA.

Edward "Eddie" Gil attended St. James Major Elementary, Brother Martin High School and the University of New Orleans where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration and Management, and Science Marketing. He was an alter server at St. James Major and later a member of its Holy Name Society. He helped his community and church whenever called upon. He was a proud member of Troop 35 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was also a member of the Order of the Arrow National Honor Society.

Ever the one to sacrifice to ensure the well-being of his family and friends, when Hurricane Katrina destroyed the family home, Edward succeeded in securing a beautiful home for his parents where all gathered for celebrations throughout the years. He was well known for hosting some of the best New Year's parties, that were meant to keep his family close to one another. He always honored God, family, and friends above all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Iris Gil; infant sister, Yolanda Maria Gil; grandparents, Victor and Martha Gil, Walter Babb and Marie Babb-Ducote and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his siblings, Michael (Anne), Christopher, Stephen (Amie), Stacey (Jorge) and Stephanie (Abraham); nieces and nephews, Aaliyah, Chloe, Leah (Godchild), Jacob, Sarah, Casen, Sophia, and Mia; close friends, Alan Reese Jr., Scott Wallace, Joey Wagner, and his many relatives whom he made a conscious effort to show his love.

Visitation/Funeral services will be held at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, located at 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am. Religious services at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery #3, located at 3421 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119.
