Enilda Rodriguez Ictech-Bendeck

Enilda Bendeck, age 91, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 8, 2025. She was born on January 28, 1934 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. She was one of five siblings to Ramon Antonio Rodriguez (from Penuelas, Puerto Rico) and Conception Miranda (from Guayanilla, Puerto Rico). She attended elementary and high school in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico and later graduated in 1958 from University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor's degree in science and education. She continued her post graduate internship in dietetics nutrition at Charity Hospital and attended Loyola University New Orleans. After graduating college, she became a registered dietician nutritionist and registered member of the American Dietetic Association. She left New Orleans for a dietitian position at the VA Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and later returned to New Orleans to practice her profession at Charity Hospital for thirty years. Her kindness and compassion for her patients and love of her profession touched the lives of all the leukemia patients at Charity Hospital during her tenure.

She was loved by all her patients and their families because of her kindness and concern for their wellbeing. She was a special person who cared for extremely sick and terminally ill patients during her career.

Enilda was married to her husband Tino Bendeck for sixty-three years. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Constantino (Tino) Ictech-Bendeck, her sons Ramon (Ray) Antonio Ictech-Bendeck, Elias Jorge (George) Ictech-Bendeck, daughter in-law Dana H. Bendeck, grandsons Taylor B. Bendeck, Connor C. Bendeck and James P. Bendeck, sister Iris Gavilanes, brother in-law Carlos Gavilanes, and sister Hortensia (Yuya) Rodriguez Hernandez.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Metairie HealthCare Center staff for their wonderful, compassionate care.

A private ceremony for immediate family is scheduled at Garden of Memories followed by a memorial service to take place in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, where she will be interred alongside her parents.
