Edward Grosse, 91, of Western Springs; beloved husband of Peggy Link Grosse; loving father of Scott Grosse (Debby), Sara Ureel (Dan) and Laura Parrish (Jim); proud Papa of Britton Fossett (Mark), Jamie Grosse (Lindsay), Scott Ureel, Molly Ronovsky (Joe), Will Ureel (Katherine), Jimbo Parrish, Sawyer Lutz (Mark), and Baylor Parrish; adoring great grandfather of Ella and Charlie Fossett, Natalie, CC, Laura, and Mary Grosse, Payton, Will, and Charlie Ronovsky, and James Ureel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy and his parents, Oakman and Alice Anna Grosse.
Ed was born in Green Bay and grew up in Shawano, WI where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, and played a variety of sports at Shawano High School. His talent led to a three sport, athletic career at Lawrence University, where he lettered in football, basketball and tennis, prompting an induction into the Hall of Fame at both Shawano High School and Lawrence University. Ed was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the ROTC while at Lawrence. After college, he received a tryout with his beloved Green Bay Packers. He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force.
Ed and Peggy settled in Western Springs, her hometown, and raised their family there. Wonderful memories were made as well as countless lifelong friendships. They were members of the LaGrange Country Club for more than 50 years, as well as the Congregational Church. Ed enjoyed a lucrative career in the insurance industry, leading to the opening of the Davis-Grosse agency. He was a pioneer in the innovation of insurance products and services for the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association.
Ed cherished his time in Phelps, WI at his beautiful cabin on Long Lake. Summers were spent golfing, fishing, waterskiing and playing tennis. His love of Wisconsin supper clubs led to many fun, colorful dinners with family and friends, all were welcome!
You were blessed and we will miss you Pop.saloon! P.S. Write if you get work!
Services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Ed's name to:
