Edward George Hare, Jr., aged 72, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on the 29th of August, 2025, in the same community where he was born and had spent his entire life. Born on April 7, 1953, to a close-knit family in Morgantown, he grew up to embody the spirit of his hometown, becoming a beloved member of the community.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Edward leaves behind his cherished wife of 47 years, Brenda Lee Hare, who stood by his side through life's adventures. Together, they raised a family that became Edward's pride and joy. Their love and devotion live on through their daughter, Telena Marie Hare, and her partner, Johnny Wilson. Edward was a caring brother to Tina Hare Willard and Troy Hare. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Jordan and Hayden Hare, whose accomplishments and dreams he wholeheartedly encouraged.
Edward dedicated many years to his career as a coal miner, where he was not only recognized for his strong work ethic and dedication but also for the close relationships he built with his colleagues. Beyond the mines, he was known to participate in various community activities, often leading and supporting events that bonded the community together.
An outdoor enthusiast through and through, Edward relished the tranquility and excitement of nature. His happiest days were spent boating and water skiing on the lakes, camping under the stars, fishing by the serene rivers, and hunting in the lush forests of West Virginia. His fascination with modes of transport extended to his interest in trains and planes, an interest that often had him traveling to distant places to explore and understand more about them.
At home, Edward was a collector at heart. He took great pleasure in finding unique coins to add to his extensive collection and enjoyed the simple thrill of scratch-off lottery tickets. His life was marked by joy in both grand adventures and the simple moments.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home in Westover on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 4pm until 7pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until the 11 am service time with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com
