Edward C. Harris, known affectionately as Ederd by those closest to him, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, in Valley Spring, Texas, after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer. Born on November 9, 1966, in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas, Ederd's life was one marked by an unwavering love for his family, a passion for the great outdoors, and a legacy of laughter and creativity that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Ederd's early years in Hamlin, Bartlett and Stinnet, Tx laid the foundation for a life that was deeply connected to the land and the community. His career began as a teen and was a testament to this bond, working with Swenson Land & Cattle Company for more than 30 years in Stamford, Tx and Pecan Creek Ranch in
Llano, Tx, where his dedication and expertise were greatly valued. His work was not just a job but a reflection of his character - steadfast, reliable, and imbued with a sense of purpose that inspired those around him.
His personal life was rich with the love of his family and friends. Ederd is survived by his adoring children, John Harris of Anson, Texas, and Shelbie Miller, along with her husband Joseph Miller of Early, Texas. His memory will also be treasured by his Bonus Mother Connie Harris of Valley Spring, Tx and his sisters, Tammie Coffman and her husband Terry of Clyde, Texas, and April Grand along with her husband Randy of Haskell, Texas He will truly be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ederd was preceded in death by his mother, Donna McIntosh, his father, Beryl Harris, his two sisters, Wilma Gail Ditmore, Ann Ditmore Graves and his dog, Badger. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and his role as a father, brother, and friend was one he embraced with joy and unwavering commitment.
An avid outdoorsman, Ederd found solace and excitement in the natural world. Fishing and hunting were not just hobbies but a way of life that allowed him to connect with nature and share memorable experiences with those he loved. His laughter echoed through the woods and across the lakes, a sound as comforting and familiar as the Texas landscape he so dearly loved.
Ederd's memory is also etched in the countless moments of humor and creativity he shared with everyone. His ability to light up a room with his funny and creative spirit was a gift that made each gathering brighter and every conversation more engaging. He was the heart of every party, the storyteller that captivated audiences, and the loving presence that made every encounter special.
In remembrance of Ederd, we celebrate a life lived with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world and the warmth of human connection.
