Edward Dean Higginbotham “Ed” Sr., 89 of Iva, SC, passed away at home with his family on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 8:36 am.
Born in Iva, SC, on February 6, 1936, he was the son of Doc and Lucy Mae Turner Higginbotham. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva. He was an active member of the Anderson Chapter 130 of the Eastern Star, Master Mason of Grand Lodge Iva 238 and a Gideon. Ed retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass and was an active member of the Iva Rescue Squad.
He was preceded by his wife of over 60 years, Sara McConnell, and his son, Edward Dean Higginbotham Jr (Eddie), brothers James “Bud” Higginbotham, Michael Higginbotham, and sister Dorothy Simpson.
He is survived by his sons: Rick Higginbotham (Robin Cooper Higginbotham) of Elberton, GA, and Brad Higginbotham (Roxie McCall Higginbotham )of Iva, SC and daughter-in-law, Annette Howell Higginbotham of Fountain Inn, SC; grandchildren: Keith, Edward III, Katrina Thompson, Celeste Watkins, Daniel (DJ), Georgia, Tristen, and Caleb; great-grandchildren: Cole, Mason, Della Grace, Aurora, Waylon, Easton, and Stormi Rae, and his brothers Jimmy Higginbotham (Nancy), Randy Higginbotham (Suzie), sisters Alice Brown (Curt), and Carolyn Cromer (Eugene).
The family will hold a memorial service at 4 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, officiated by Rev. Jerry Gray at First Baptist Church of Iva.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Thursday from 3 pm – 4 pm.
