Mr. Edward Elie Holyfield, 88, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Wayne County, MS on Thursday, April 8, 1937, to the late Elie and Mamie Holyfield. He was a member of First Winchester Global Church and was a sexton of the cemetery which he took great pride in. He served in the United States Air Force from April 1955 to February 1959. He worked for many years at Ciba-Geigy and Hanson Scales. Although he had small jobs after retirement his passion was growing cane and making syrup, cows, bailing hay, and growing vegetables. He loved sharing his harvest with family and friends.
Mr. Holyfield is preceded in death by his parents, Elie and Mamie Holyfield; brother, Elbert Holyfield; two sisters, Janell McAdams and Christine Cook. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Yvonne Holyfield; two daughters, Terry McIlwain (Ellis) and Tonya Bedwell (Windell), all of Waynesboro, MS; four grandchildren, Hope Walker (John), Cassie Pickering (Daniel), Holly Slay (Dillon), and Chase Bedwell (Chelsea); nine great Grandchildren with one on the way, Wilt, Wyatt, Willa, Gabe, Porter Ellis, Sawyer, Huck, Finn, Landree, and Lorali due in August.
A Graveside Service Mr. Holyfield will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Winchester Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Tom Walker officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
