Edward "Ed" Dean Johnson, 70, of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at his residence. He was born on April 5, 1953 in Francesville to the late Theodore "Junior" Johnson and Ruth (Onken) McCracken. Ed had a passion for billiards and played in several different leagues and tournaments around the state. He won several awards and tournaments creating quite a name for himself "Fast Eddie". Ed was a competitive coon hunter and raised many coon dogs in the past. He won many coon hunts in his younger days and was an avid outdoorsman through and through. He loved to hunt anything. Ed had recently completed his biannual ATV trip with family, and close friends. He especially cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. Surviving are his children, Alycia (Craig) Sharp of Monticello, Asher (Kim) Johnson of St. Petersburg, Theodore "T.J." (Macie) Johnson of Nobelsville, Doug (Heather) Shank of AR; siblings, Raymond (Denise) Johnson of Winamac, Jim Mullis of Reynolds; brother-in-law, Larry "Skin" Owens of Monticello; grandchildren, Ryanna(Jacob), Ian, Harley, Kaiden, Adrianne, Madden, Ryland, and Hadley; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Sharon Owens, Dennis "Denny" Johnson, and Lori Johnson Franke. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, January 8, 2024 at the funeral home with his nephews, Larry Owens and Dylan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be payable to the Funeral Home to help cover funeral costs: Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
