It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Khattar, a man of great spirit and unmatched generosity, on August 20, 2024. Born on March 20, 1942, Edward faced many challenges during his childhood, but those difficulties only forged him into one of the greatest men we have ever known.

From a young age, Edward took on significant responsibilities to support his family. He faced many hardships in his early years, but these challenges did not hold him back. Instead, they shaped him into a remarkable man who provided financial support to his brothers and sisters, ensuring they had access to the education they needed. He was always a source of encouragement and support for them.

Edward met his wife, Madeleine Grace, in Egypt, and they shared 42 years of marriage. After several years of marriage, he faced financial hardship and lost his business in his mid-40s. However, Edward never gave up. With the spirit of a young man in his twenties, he rebuilt his life. Rather than surrendering to his circumstances, he worked as a school principal for over 15 years in Egypt, leaving a positive impact on many students' lives and teaching his two sons, Robert Khattar and Patrick Khattar, a valuable lesson in resilience and determination.

After partially retiring, Edward moved with his family to the United States and settled in Utah. There, he worked as a medical interpreter for ten years, helping many patients on their medical journeys. Patients felt comfortable with him because of his kindness and care, and he earned the respect of everyone he served.

Edward had a deep love for reading, and his vast knowledge was the result of years of study and learning. We all remember watching "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" together as a family, where he could easily answer every question, making us proud to be part of his family.

Edward loved his wife’s brothers and sisters as his own, and they loved and respected him deeply in return. His home was always open, and his generosity knew no bounds. All the children in the family adored him and loved spending time with him at family gatherings, where he was always the life of the party, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went.

In his retirement years, Edward cherished spending time with his granddaughter, who was the light of his life. She had a special way of making him laugh and feel joy like never before. Their shared memories were filled with laughter and happiness, creating moments that will last forever.

Edward was known for his deep love of life. He enjoyed walking and could walk for hours, and the cities of Egypt, especially Cairo, held a special place in his heart. He continued to work tirelessly, always finding ways to support his beloved wife and children. He was a true example of resilience and hard work, proving that no setback could weaken his determination.

Edward loved the beach and traveling, and he found happiness in taking his wife on many trips, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His laughter and love for life were contagious; it was impossible to meet him without being touched by his vibrant spirit.

Edward passed away after a long battle with illness, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and an unbreakable will to live life to the fullest.

He will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the souls he touched.

There will be mass at St. Jude Maronite Catholic Chruch 5445 S 2700 W, Taylorsville Ut 84129, on August 27, 2024 at 11:ooam. For those attending from Cairo the services will begin at 8:00pm and will be broadcast over Facebook live.

Interment will take place following mass at the Salt Lake City Cemetery at 1:30. 200 N St E, Salt Lake City, UT 84103
