Edward Dale Landa, 83, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022 in his home in Temple, TX. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, 1:00 p.m. in the veterans section of Lewistown City Cemetery.
Edward was born on March 1, 1939 to Emil and Dorothy Dean (Foster) Landa in Lewistown, MT. He was the first born out of five children. He was raised on the farm in Hilger, Montana until his father moved the family to Roy, Montana to work for the Milwaukee Railroad. At that time, Edward began his love for farm equipment, especially tractors and trains.
After graduating from Roy High School in 1957, Edward enlisted into the Army. He served in many units throughout his career along with spending many years in Vietnam as a Helicopter Crew Chief. He had received numerous medals, awards and unit presidential citations throughout his career.
After retiring from the Army, he made a home for himself in Temple, TX where he remained there until his death. He was a member of the D.A.V., Temple VFW and a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Temple.
Among his many interests and hobbies, he enjoyed photography, aeronautics, collecting scale sized tractors, trains and automobiles.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Dorothy (Sally) Steinke, Margaret (June) Zowada; two infant siblings; nephew, Rodney Sand; and great nephew, Roger Lee Sand.
He is survived by his nephew, Roger Sand and his wife Rochelle of Great Falls, MT; twelve great nieces and nephews; and twelve great-great nieces and nephews.
