LETAVIS, Edward Frank, known affectionately as "Fast Eddie," passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at his home in Durand, surrounded by his beloved family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand, MI 48429 with Fr. Arockiyasamy Santhiyagu, msfs celebrant. Visitation will be held 12 PM - 1 PM at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Gaines. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand or the charity of one's choice.
Born on September 19, 1932, in Lennon, MI, the son of George and Mary (Vasicek) Letavis, dedicated his life to both his family and his community through a successful career and vigorous enthusiasm for life. A proud graduate of Swartz Creek High School. He married Gloria Denny on June 14, 1952 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Flint. Edward spent 59 years as a dedicated State Farm agent in Swartz Creek. His entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he owned and operated Letavis Car Wash and Fast Eddie's Oil Change stores throughout Michigan. Known for his hard work and infectious laughter, Edward fostered a business enterprise characterized by a commitment to service and a passion for positivity. Beyond his professional endeavors, Edward was deeply connected to his interests. He had a passion for antique cars. A talented saxophonist, he played in various bands for many years, sharing his love for music with friends and family alike. Additionally, Edward enjoyed the outdoors, frequently engaging in golfing and snowmobiling, pursuits that brought him joy and camaraderie.
Edward Frank Letavis is survived by his three children: Mark Letavis of Grand Blanc, Lynnette Parsons of Corunna, and Lori (Scott) Perrin of Durand. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Amanda (Ryan) Obert, Matthew Letavis, Courtney (Robert) Herrick, Ashley (Kevin) Rathbun, Zachary (Lindsey) Perrin, Zeb (Ashley) Perrin, Lucas (Chelsea) Perrin, and Jacob Perrin. He also leaves behind a multitude of great-grandchildren, including Mason, Caleb, Brooks, Brock, Landon, Claire, Cooper, Griffin, Hudson, Paisley, Emmitt, Layton, Jennings, Porter, Millie, and Leon. He is further survived by his brother, James Letavis of Owosso, along with many lifelong friends who will remember him for his generosity and zest for life.
Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Gloria Letavis, whose companionship he cherished throughout their life together. He is also preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Frances Santavy, his granddaughter, Megan Letavis and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Letavis.
The family extends a special thank you to all of his caregivers, Pam, Pat, Rick, Kim, Cheryl, Lori, Jody, Mary, Shelly, Lynn and the staff of Elara Caring Hospice. Edward Frank Letavis will be remembered not only for his entrepreneurial legacy but also for his infectious laughter, dedication to family, and a love for life's adventures. He leaves behind a profound impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
