Edward W Martel JR

Edward W Martel Jr, 94 of Debary, Florida passed away December 20, 2025. Edward was born to the late Edward (Eli) W & Florence (Mugford) Martel on November 1, 1931, in Revere, Massachusetts, and was raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was a self-employed, hardworking man who loved and provided for his family. He enjoyed camping bluegrass music, tinkering, sharing many stories from his life, helping others, eating, and spending time with his family. Edward was known for his love for his family and for others; he never found a friend who hadn't become family. He was always quick to help others in need.
He is proceeded in death by his wife of 70 years, the love of his life, Mary "Mamie" Jean (Buckley) Martel; grandson Christopher R Grubbs; parents Edward (Eli) W Martel & Florence Martel; sisters, Mary N MacDonald, June Nicoli, Audrey Tatosky. He leaves behind four children, Georgeann Grasso & her husband Martin of DeBary, FL, Mary Ellen Zdanciewicz of DeBary, FL, Darlene M Grubbs & her husband Raymond of DeBary, FL, Edward W Martel & his wife Cecila of DeLand, FL; 9 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren, with another on the way, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Edward's presence will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank all those who have offered support, condolences, and love during this difficult time. Your kindness and memories are cherished.
There will be a family hosted Celebration of Life January 24, 2026 3:00pm at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 811 Orange Camp Road Deland, Florida 32724.
