Edward McAdoo Obituary

Edward Joseph McAdoo

August 19, 1957 - February 8, 2025

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Edward Joseph McAdoo, 67, formerly of Billerica, MA, beloved husband of Deborah, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 8, 2025, in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Born on August 19, 1957, to Barbara and Elliott McAdoo. Ed was a graduate of Shawsheen Tech High School, Class of 1976. He recently retired from Waccamaw Management where he was a Building Maintenance Engineer. He was an active member of the Myrtle Beach Moose Lodge and President of his HOA.

Ed was a devoted husband to his wife of 48 years, Deborah McAdoo. He was a loving father to his daughters, Melissa Weeden and her husband Jeffrey of Conway, SC, and Amy Harris and her husband David of Blythewood, SC. His cherished grandchildren, Ryan McAdoo, Zachary Weeden, Ava Weeden, and Emma Harris, brought him immense joy. He also shared a special bond with his faithful dog, Max.

He is survived by his brother Elliott Linwood of CA; sister Charlene Martin and her husband Jeff of Greenville, SC; sister Robin; and brother Michael of Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his father, Elliott McAdoo, his mother, Barbara McAdoo and his sister, Suzanne Wilson.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and taking walks with his devoted companion, Max. A true friend to all, Ed was known for his quick wit and warm presence, he had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome, always ready with a helping hand or a listening ear. His ability to bring laughter to any room was unmatched, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

A celebration of life is planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Almost Home Dog Sanctuary at 5245 Burt Lane, Pace, FL 32571 or online at almosthomedogsanctuary.com.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Ed and I worked at BASF together. He had a heart of gold. We once had a weight loss challenge for a small wager and weighed in every day. I would have a doughnut every AM in front of him and continue to lose weight daily. Ed was beside himself. Not knowing I had weights attached to myself and discarded some of them daily. I had to let him know!! He was starving himself and didn't want to worry Deb. What a great guy!!!

He had the biggest heart I ever knew. I was going to be fired over something that was sad out of context. He saved my job I worked for him 8 years. Then years later I needed a night job and he had Greenbrier and he helped me out again for awhile. But he always helped out friends and I always appreciated the helping hand when I was stuck. Ed was a great guy and an amazing friend. I am truly saddened to hear he is no longer with us. to you all your friend always Pat Mickle

We used to drive to work together (BASF). I will remember the time you drove into the backyard to see how Pete was doing. We were putting in a groound pool. But what I remember is you driving over our leech field. Also, the CHristmas parties at BASF. We had some great times. R.I.P. my friend.
