Edward McClane Obituary

Edward G. McClane, age 75, died September 9, 2025 in West Palm Beach Florida.

Edward "Ed" McClane is survived by his son Michael McClane (wife Julie) of West Palm Beach Florida; and his daughter Erin McClane of Delray Beach Florida; his brother Matthew McClane (wife Roberta) of Punta Gorda Florida; and his grandchildren Gavin, Anita, Hayli, Ayden and Gauge; and great grandchildren Jaxson and Bryson.

Ed was born on November 14, 1949 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to parents William McClane and Audreé Lebrun.

Ed "Mr. Traffic" worked as a traffic engineer at Palm Beach County in the Traffic Division. He retired with more than 30 years of service with the county. Ed married the love of his life Geraldine C. Rothell on July 19, 1975 in Lake Worth, Florida. Ed was a social man and was respected in every aspect of his life. He and Geri were and more likely still are fierce fans of University of Florida sports. Throughout their healthy lives he and Geri spent most Saturdays traveling to Gainesville to watch Florida Football. They watched any Florida Gator sport and cheered them on no matter what.

He spent time volunteering at First Christian Church, one of his favorite things to do was cook for a large group there. He was a social butterfly and never met a stranger, just a new friend. Two things he was particularly proud. First was his sobriety, which he achieved 35 years on August 17, 2025. Second was his work ethic. He either was dubbed "Mr. Traffic" or he dubbed himself that. He took public safety seriously and would make sure any project in Palm Beach County was done with proper procedure.

A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for October 5, 2025 at 2:00 pm at First Christian Church with remembrance and fellowship immediately following the service. Pastor Bruce Bowerman-Jett will officiate. All who knew Ed are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed's life. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of condolences.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to First Christian Church, 215 S Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33409 or made on line by clicking here.
