Edward "Ed" Francis McConahy, Sr., 78, originally from New Castle, PA, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 2, 1947, Ed dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his community.

Ed proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1988, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. As a Flight Engineer, his military career took him to various parts of the world, where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Following his distinguished military service, Ed continued to serve his community as an Aircraft Mechanic with Northwest/Delta Airlines, where he worked for 15 years. He went on to work for Raytheon/Hawker Beechcraft for an additional 9 years. He left a lasting impact on those he served and worked alongside.

In his retirement, Ed enjoyed woodworking, model airplanes and watching football. He continued his love of aviation throughout his life. He enjoyed sharing stories and knowledge with his grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Terry Ann McConahy (Trott); his children, Edward F. McConahy, Jr. (Tonya), Shawn C. McConahy (Trina); his grandchildren, Blake McConahy, Breanna McConahy and Jessica Goodwin; and his sisters, Shirley Hamilton, Jackie Pape, Irene Bennett, and Kathy Kantner. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Ed's life and service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, PA 16101. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. New Castle, PA.
