Mark David "Mac" McConahy, 55, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.
Born February 4, 1970, in New Castle, he was a son of Laura J. (McCann) McConahy of Ellwood City and the late Paul R. McConahy Sr.
Mark was a member of Bethany Church, Latrobe. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Iraqi Freedom era, earning the rank of Master Sergeant and serving as a Drill Sergeant. Following his time in the Army, he became a member of the American Legion Post No. 982 in Unity Township and a founding member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 22-11, an organization devoted to "Vets Helping Vets." He was employed by the Operating Engineers Local 66, most recently as an instructor at their joint apprentice and training site in New Alexandria. A loyal and passionate person, Mark had the energy and zeal for life that led to many cherished friendships. His kindness and ornery sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. But above all, he will be most remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and brother.
In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his wife, Lindsay (Jackson) McConahy of Latrobe; his three daughters, Kirsten McConahy, Kendall McConahy, and Kacey McConahy; one sister, Diane Burry, and her husband, Ron, of Franklin Township; one brother, Paul R. McConahy Jr. of Penn Hills; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ellen and Gary Jackson of Ellwood City; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kyle and Tracey Jackson, Cara and Matt Pertile, and Patrick and Cassie Jackson; many nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Ruger.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Bethany Church, 2415 Laveen Street, Latrobe, where military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 33. Everyone is asked to please go directly to Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Chapter 22-11, 416 W. Main Street, #1535, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
