It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son Mathew C. McConahy.
Mathew, age 44, of Cranberry Twp., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Born December 11, 1980, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Charles E. "Chuck" McConahy, Jr., and is survived by his mother and step-father, Karen (John) Kwiatek of Zelienople.
In addition to his mother and step-father, Mathew leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Dylan McConahy; his brother, Lucas (Jenie) McConahy; his niece, Adeline McConahy; his step-sister Jennifer Kwiatek, his beloved maternal grandmother Gretchen (Nam) Hunt, Dylan's mom and his best friend, Kellie Mills; his childhood friend, Matt Walsh; his cat, Fluff; and many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his Phish family, who he traveled with far and wide.
Along with his father, Mathew was preceded in death by his step-brother, Matthew Kwiatek; and his beloved grandparents, Charles and Mary McConahy, Charles Kniess; and step-grandfather, Richard Hunt.
Mat always had a great passion for food. He was a trained chef, a 2008 graduate of the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute and worked at several restaurants where he made many lasting friendships. He owned and operated his own food truck, Global Street Foods, thanks to the help of Dylan, Luc, and his friends Walsh and Kevin Keegan. He enjoyed gardening and had a great interest in Paw Paw trees, planting seeds and cultivating them. He also enjoyed attending sporting events and concerts. Above all, most important to Mat was spending time and traveling with his son, Dylan. He will live forever in the hearts of those he touched. He was a true friend.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their exceptional care of Mathew.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family, at Mat's request, would appreciate contributions be made for Dylan via Venmo to the following account: @kelndyl to support his future endeavors.
Mathew's arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Homes, Inc., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.
