Edward "Eddie, Ed, or
Eduardo" McFail died unexpectedly on
December 18, 2024 in Riverview, FL at the age of 52.
Eddie is
survived by his father, Robert McFail,
Jr. of Riverview; wife, Brandi McFail; children, Bradley and Chloe; siblings,
Petra Trnka (John) of Wimauma and Jessica (Joe) of Wisconsin. He is
preceded in death by his mother, Helga McFail.
Eddie was
born on October 21, 1972 in Tampa, FL to Robert and Helga McFail. He graduated
from East Bay High School in 1990. He attended HCC and USF where he majored in
psychology. In 1999, he began working for CSX Transportation as a Conductor,
later advancing to Locomotive Engineer. He married Brandi, his longtime
sweetheart in 2003. In 2008 the couple welcomed Bradley and then in 2010 Chloe
blessed their lives. His children and their close friends
affectionately called him "Old Blood" and adopted him into their
friend group where he acted as a father figure to many.
Eddie was
accomplished at many different things such as fishing, amateur chef, all things
railroad, and a Star Wars superfan. He was
a generous, kind, witty, self deprecating individual who loved God, his family,
and friends and who was passionate about expanding his knowledge on various
subjects and being an example of how Christians should treat one another. He was not an active member of any
one particular church but was dedicated and often volunteered helping friends,
family, and community in his free time.
A gathering of friends and family is scheduled from 3pm to 4pm on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Serenity Meadows Riverview, FL. A memorial service will take place at 4pm. Jason Smith will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and
celebrate Eddie's life.

I had the privilege of living with Eddie and his family, when we took a temporary transfer to Nashville, TN. During those six months, there wasn´t one day that Eddie considered me a roommate. Eddie considered me as part of the family. He demonstrated that day after day with how he always put me first. Imagine what a better world we could create, if we were all a little more like Eddie.

Eddie was one of the first guys I qualified with when I came to Tampa . From the start made you feel welcome. Made the job enjoyable and that´s a tall order at CSX .

I first met Eddie quite a few years ago when I was walking on the nature trails with his dad Bob. Of course I heard wonderful things about him from Bob over the years, but I experienced first hand what a truly nice and warm person he was when I actually met him. Although I only met Eddie a few times, I appreciated the gentleness and warmth I observed when I saw him.
I know what a tremendous loss this must be for his entire family and friends and my heart goes out to all of his loved ones.
May he rest in peace.

Eddie was one of the Greats!!
I worked with him for many years out on the rail, we worked many jobs together out there, shared many, stories, many laughs and made so many memories that will last forever.
He played a critical role in my success at CSX and I will be forever grateful for that and grateful to call him not just a Friend but a Brother forever!!
Love ya Eddie, see you again soon and until then,
I´am Clear of all Crap, stretch-´em...

Worked with Eddie a bunch out at Mulberry. He had such a good attitude in all things, and he was a good one to be around. It was evident from the joy he shared, that he was a man of God!

Eddie was the best. It's as simple as that. I remember when he first started with CSXT in Hialeah all those years ago. His enthusiasm, his attitude, his infectious cheerfulness. He was literally, walking joy. Over the almost 25years that I knew him, those same attributes never waivered. I am so proud/glad/honored to have called him my friend. He will be missed.

The first time I saw Eddie come to work, I thought this was another know-it-all. After I met him and worked with him, I was sadly mistaken. His attitude was addictive. You could not have a bad day with Eddie. He was very focused on the job, looked out for his crew, and made it a pleasure to get the job done. In my 44 years, I have never seen Eddie get upset or angry at ANYONE. 3rd generation of Mcfails, a good legacy. You will be missed, Eddie. Go railroad with your grandpa.

I had the honor of getting to work with Eddie and it didn't take long to realize that he was special. He was always wearing a smile and one of the most positive people I've known. All those overnight shifts hearing his stories about family, fishing, Star Wars and various creatures I had never heard of left an indelible mark. I wish this world had a lot more Eddie's in it. My deepest condolences to the family during this time.

Edward McFail's parents are our neighbors. He and his Dad both worked with my cousin Darrell for the railroad. edward and his family are neighbors of a dear friends Rose and Richard. We would see Edward and his Dad in the driveway working on a car. Words shall never fill the void left in a loved ones passing, but fond memories of days gone by and hope of joining them in the here after will sustain those left behind.
Benny and Yvonne Lattimore extend a warm embrace and our condolences to the family and friends.

I had the privilege of working with Eddie a lot over the 5 years I was in Tampa/Mulberry. No matter what was going on, Eddie always had a smile on his face. Eddie was a true friend in every sense and a proud husband and father. Fly high brother!

I remember when Eddie started his 1st day in the Bone Valley (Mulberry, FL). This young kid showed up with a huge smile on his face. He was so happy to be continuing the McFail railroad legacy. I truly enjoyed working him through the years.

I always enjoyed working with Eddie. Always a fun time and shared his knowledge with you. I still remember when he ordered a pizza to the engine in Fort Meade! I think it made the papers. Miss you, brother!

First time I ever went to Uncle Nicks Bagel was with Eddy, after we went on the Law at Shepard Road. He always had a Smile on his face, and he could never be taken down. He always managed to bring my spirits up, and put a smile on my face. I will never forget him.

I worked with Eddie at Csx for almost 20 yrs. It didn't matter how bad of a day you were having. If you were working with Eddie your day was so much happier by the end of the day. That's just the type of person he was. He would go out of his way with his squeaky voice to make you laugh until your gut hurt. With his Captain Kirk sideburns he grew all year for his Halloween party. I really glad God put Eddie in my life and that I was able to spend as much time with him as I could. Now he can go make the Big Guy laugh.
