Edward Ferdinand Moeller Jr., 83, passed away on Saturday August 24, 2024 in Houston, TX. He was born on June 20, 1941 in Nada, TX and graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in Psychology. He met Carol Putzel while attending classes at Towson State in Baltimore, MD where he was stationed while serving in the United States Army. Carol and Ed married in Baltimore on February 8, 1969. Ed had a passion for researching his family's heritage and was so proud of his Nada/Garwood roots. He was a member of the Nada Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he served on the International Committee since 1980. Ed was a historian, artist, musician, crossword puzzle aficionado, and champion domino player. He was soft spoken with a quick wit. He loved going on hunting trips with his lifelong friends and hosting family and friends at the family homestead. Carol and Ed were "second" parents to dozens of people and truly loved the friends and family that were a part of their lives.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Antonia Moeller, his wife of 51 years, Carol, and his sisters, Clarine Gold and Lillian Sablatura. Ed is survived by his children, Trey and Leslie Moeller, Matt and Kelly Banker, and Daniel and Emily White, his five grandchildren, Mallory, Shelby, and Lexi Moeller, Caroline and Logan White, and many loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada, TX on Friday, August 30, 2024. Visitation will start at 9:00 am, rosary at 9:30 am, and funeral at 10:00 am followed by a burial.
The pallbearers will be Daniel White, Matt Banker, Jeff Andrews, Mike Rose, Ralph Gold, Evan Hicks and Edward Sablatura. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Bono, Fr. James Janish, James Schilling, Randy Waligura and Chad Waligura.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (alxfdn.org) or St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada, TX.

I attended 12 years of school with Edward, 1st through 12. Geography had separated us as Alaska is a long way from Texas. A few years ago I received a surprise birthday wish from Edward. It was 5 AM here but I was delighted to visit with him.

I was a college sophomore or junior driving from Trinity University to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri at the end of the year when I broke down in Dallas. I hiked to a pay phone and called Trey. Edward answered the phone. I explained the situation, and he said, "don´t worry about it." Next thing I know Edward shows up. He whisked me around Dallas to ensure that my car got fixed before taking me to his house. They fed me more than one human should possibly ever eat at one time and put me up for the night. He did it all with great humor and care. Never once did he make me feel that he was going out of his way or that I was interrupting his day. He treated me as if I´d known him all my life. A great example to everyone.
