Edward Paul Montano, lovingly known as Eddie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his father and brother, on October 28, 2025 due to Alzheimer's. He was born on February 8, 1979. The second child of Edward and Marie Montano joining his older brother Louie.
Eddie grew up in Oracle, Arizona, he attended schools in the Oracle, San Manuel and Tucson districts proudly graduating from Canyon del Oro high school in 2000 that same year, He began working for the town of Oro Valley through a third-party program for individuals with disabilities. Eddie and his crew helped the library, picking up trash from the bike paths, helping Oro Valley Police Department with table and chair set up and breakdown for meetings. He was proud of his work, a dedicated employee for 24 years until his retirement brought on by the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Eddie had the gift of connection. He never met a stranger. Everyone he met became a friend because Eddie's heart was open to all, his smile could light up a room, and his genuine warmth reminded us what it means to love unconditionally. Eddie loved the simple joys of life. He was happiest with a slice of cheese pizza, a visit to Starbucks for coffee, enjoying his favorite Carne Asada burrito plain from Nico's taco shop where he called the work crew guys, his buddies! He was there all the time! On most weekends, you could find him enjoying his non-alcoholic O'douls, having a cookout, and just being content surrounded by the people he loved. Now we can't talk about Eddie without mentioning his deep commitment to a television's greatest game shows The Price is Right! The Barker era on Pluto TV. He loved that show, but let's be honest. It wasn't just about the prizes. It was about the Barker beauties Diane,Holly and his favorite Janice! He'd light up when they came on screen, grinning, that mischievous grin of his. That was Eddie always a flirt, never shy always full of charm, and somehow impossible not to love him for it. Music was another one of Eddie's great joys, it was the part of the rhythm of his life. From country to rap to Mexican music, it filled his spirit and made him smile and made him dance. It brought out that playful spark we all loved so much. Always the life of the party! With his antics, his one liners, his playful humor, his love of life. He brought lighting and laughter to all he knew him. Eddie also participated in the Tri-community Special Olympics for several years where his enthusiasm and determination shined brightly. Although, he was born with down syndrome. It never let that define him. He embraced life with joy and determination to succeed. Eddie had a special devotion to the Virgin Mary. He found comfort and peace in her image, often buying pictures and statues of her wherever he went that devotion wasn't just decoration. It reflected something true about who he was. Eddie believed in love, compassion, forgiveness, and hope. He often gave nicknames that somehow always stuck because he saw each person in his own unique and loving way. A few nicknames were his dad was turkey, his brother was big boy, his Nino was cowboy, his Tio Manny was Bud Light, his Tio George was George Jetson, his Tio Frankie was guy guy and his Tio Freddy was Compa just to name a few. Family meant everything to Eddie. He was especially close to his dad. Wherever his dad went. Eddie wasn't far behind. He shared a deep and lovely bond with his mom who's passing left a hole in his heart that he never quite got over and his brother Louis, his protector, his partner in laughter, His best friend was always there to make sure life ran smoothly for him. Eddie was blessed with the compassionate care of Becky Torres, his devoted caretaker a true guardian angel, who cared for him with patience, kindness, and love, which our family will always be grateful for. Though he will be deeply missed his life will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him! Rest peacefully Eddie until we meet again thank you for the good times, the laughter, the love you gave us while on this earth now that you're in heaven, you have a new body, no more suffering, you're new.
We love you! Chato
