We have come here today to honor and celebrate the life and passing of Edward E. Odle Sr. The Lord blessed Dad with a long life of 89 years. On Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10:06 p.m., surrounded by family, Dad passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord.
He was well liked at work and retired from UC as an HVAC Maintenance Manager. Dad loved his family and was a loving father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He was a good father to us, and we never lacked for anything growing up.
He enjoyed horses and going to the Kentucky Derby every year. He even owned a couple of racehorses at one time. He liked to play golf, played a little softball, and even pitched on our local team. All of our friends liked my dad growing up; they called him Pappy Daddy, and he was fun to be around. When he was home, you would find him tossing a ball with us, and he always went to our games. He was well liked by everyone and had a lot of close friends.
Dad was born to the late Cova (Duvall) and Joseph Odle Sr. in Louisville, KY. Dad was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Dorothy Jean Odle; brothers, Joseph Odle Jr., MD Odle, and Robert Odle, Sr.; sister, Norma Brewer; and daughter, Sherry (Bruce) Coots.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Craig; sons, Edward Jr. (Christy) Odle and Ricky (Danielle) Odle; grandchildren, Michelle (TJ) Thole, Jennifer Odle, Joe Odle, Steven (Jamie) Schott, and Laura Schott (Rick Rankin); great-grandchildren, Ricky Odle Jr., Aaliyah Odle, Garrett Rankin, Carson, Brody, Easton, Ryleigh, and Jaxson Schott; and his very close friend and loving companion, Hazel Foster.
He is surely going to be missed by all of us. We sure loved you, Dad, and we will see you again soon!
