Edward Ortan (Skibo) was born on February 17, 1942, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Lee and Dorothy Ortan.
Edward was the second oldest of four siblings, he was proceeded in death by both parents and a son Terry and his sister Margaret Ann Smith
Edward accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Edward served his country in the United States Army.
Edward worked for several organizations before settling with Lucent Technology where he retired in 2000.
Edward was known by all friends and family as "Skibo."
Skibo passed the time watching TV. He loved "Jeopardy", and all Judge shows, specifically Judge Judy. He loved watching most sports, football, basketball, (both men and women) and tennis. Skibo had a knack for putting together any type of gadget. If you could speak it, he could make it.
Who and what Skibo loved most was family and spending time with them. He loved the family he was born into, the family he produced and the family he inherited because of his lasting relationship with Addie Young. His relationship with Addie was not one of a Hollywood script. It was one rooted in a desire to be there one for the other in good times and bad, sickness and in health until the Lord called him home.
Skibo was the ultimate host along with his life partner, Addie. You never left a meal they put together hungry. The "chitlin feast", always included his crackling or hot water cornbread.
To know him was to love him. He had a quiet but opinionated spirit. He was like E F Hutton, when he spoke up, we all listened. You never had to wonder what he was thinking. He was a generous man, a humble man and a loving man.
To mourn his passing and cherish his memory is his X-Wife and Life Partner, Addie Young, stepsons Michael Young (Jackie) and Carlton Young (Sonja). Sister Velma Morgan, brother Tony Lacy, his sons, Jeffrey J. Moore, Rodney Ortan (Ronda), Allen Davis, and daughters Bridget Barker (Lonny) and Victoria Lozado (Jeffrey). Grandchildren Kayla & Sierra Ortan and Tony and Tonya Lozada. The names of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends are more than these pages could possibly hold. He will be missed by many.

My heart felt condolences go out to the entire family and extended family of Skibo (everyone's friend). Though I was a few years behind him in age I always observed the "older guys" around Holdenville. There are two memories of Skibo that surely must be shared by our entire neighborhood. The man could take and old heap of a car and hover for days under the hood with a wrench, a hammer and some bailing wire and at the end of the week it was a smooth, quiet running machine. The other thing was his musical ear. He could sit out in the shade beside the house and listen to a radio until he heard a song he liked and immediately begin to pluck out the melody line, in a few hours he could add some bass, rhythm and heart to the tune. He will be missed by many who are were always amazed by the hundreds of trips he made up I-35 to support his family and friends.
