Danielson- Edward T. Rabitor Jr., 81, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 after a period of declining health.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan J. (DeFranzo) Rabitor; his three children, Jeremiah J. Rabitor and his wife Myong Sun of Potomac, MD, Benjamin E. Rabitor of Alexandria, VA, and Rebekah S. Rabitor and her husband Jonathan Chuck of Milford, CT; his four adored grandchildren, Alessandra and Isabella Rabitor, and Adlee and Kaiden Chuck; 6 siblings, Bruce Rabitor and his wife Lola of Charlton, Gail Rabitor of Ware, Marcia Tognazzi of Uxbridge, Karen Palmieri of Linwood, Mark Rabitor and his wife Veronica of Rogers, AR, and Thomas Rabitor and his wife Evelyn of Uxbridge, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Alan Rabitor, John Rabitor, Paula Milkman-Brill, Marilyn Rabitor, and Neil Rabitor.
Born in Whitinsville on October 16, 1943, Edward was the son of Edward T. Sr and Alberta Mary (Lachapelle) Rabitor. He was educated entirely in the Blackstone Valley and was a graduate of Uxbridge High School. He joined the Navy in 1961 and served during the Vietnam era as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class, was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1964.
Upon completion of his naval service, Edward attended the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a degree in Economics and then received his MBA at the University of New Haven. Edward worked many years for General Electric as an Information Manager until his retirement in 1995.
After retirement, he enjoyed mentoring high school students in Bridgeport Connecticut, volunteering at the Connecticut National Golf Course, and spending time with beloved family members.
Ed was an avid golfer who began playing and caddying at the age of 17 for the Whitinsville Golf Course. In his retirement, he was an active member and volunteer for the Connecticut National Golf Club, where he competed competitively until recently. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was known for his famous soups and chilis. He enjoyed reading, studying history, and birdwatching, keeping feeders throughout his yard, and teaching his children and grandchildren to identify birds. Above all, Ed loved spending time with his grandchildren, walking them to school, watching them perform music, dance, and compete in sports, playing Uno (according to "Pepere rules"), and teaching them to cook holiday meals and morning pancakes. He was an amazing and generous man who will be sorely missed by his family.
Edward's Memorial funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 10 AM in St Patrick's Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Cremation burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or the Gary Sinise Foundation
