Edward William Reger
January 11, 1956 – September 11, 2025
Edward "Ed" William Reger, age 69, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was called to his eternal home in heaven on September 11, 2025, after a nearly ten-year battle with prostate and colon cancer. Throughout his illness, Ed fought with courage and determination, giving his wife and daughter the gift of more precious time together.
Born in Milwaukee on January 11, 1956, Ed was the son of the late William and Myrtle (Fenner) Reger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Karla (Clough) Reger, and their daughter, Katrina Reger. He also leaves behind two grand-dogs who brought him great joy, Mac & Cheese and Mozzarella, whom he proudly spoiled.
Ed is further survived by his sister Marcia (Reger) Nast; his nieces and nephews, Michelle (Spaetti) Zernicke, Andrea (Spaetti) Jonas, Alan Nast, Melanie (Nast) Lieterman, and Brian Nast; along with extended family, in-laws, and countless dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law and chosen brother, Ted Spaetti, and many other loved ones now rejoicing with him in heaven. Just four days after Ed's passing, his beloved sister Helen (Reger) Spaetti was also called to her heavenly home, and we rejoice knowing they are now reunited in Christ's care.
Faith was central to Ed's life. A lifelong Lutheran, he dedicated his gifts to serving churches, schools, and organizations with his expertise in finance and leadership. His professional career was both extensive and impactful. He held leadership and financial roles including:
Accountant for Brookfield Lutheran Church
Member of the Board of Directors - Director of Resource & Expansion for Brookfield Lutheran Church
Special Project Accountant and Temporary Accountant for Alexian Village
Chief Financial Officer for the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee
Director of Fiscal Operations and Chief Financial Officer for the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. (L.A.M.P. U.S.)
Vice President of Fiscal Services and Chief Financial Officer for Northwest General Hospital
District Representative and Financial Advisor for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
Assistant Executive Director and First Vice President on the Board of Directors for The Lutheran Chapel of the Cross
In addition to these formal roles, Ed often said one of his most rewarding callings was serving as a caregiver and "manny" for his niece's children, a job that filled his heart with joy and purpose.
Outside of work, Ed loved traveling and cruising with his wife, daughter, sisters, and in-laws, fishing for muskie with cousins and friends, and sharing cigars and Jack on the rocks with Ted. He was known for his sense of humor, his generosity, and the way he cared deeply for the people and pets who meant the most to him. This past summer, the Lord blessed Ed with special memories, including one last cruise with his family and extended time in Iowa with his grand-dogs.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a service and meal to follow, at BROOKFIELD LUTHERAN CHURCH. The family invites everyone to join in celebrating Ed's life. Though we grieve, we are thankful that Ed's suffering has ended and rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Christ. True to his wishes, this gathering will be a time of laughter, stories, and gratitude for the countless ways he blessed us.
