Edward Gale Rockafellow (Rocky), 86, of Greenville, Texas passed away on Sept. 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 15, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to Edward Gale and Bernice Caukin Rockafellow.

He graduated from Davidson High School in 1957 in Davidson, Michigan. He joined the U. S. Army Reserves in January 1956. In January of 1958, he joined the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Air Force in August 1977 after serving for 22 years. He attained the rank of technical sergeant. He was stationed in Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Germany and he had many temporary duty assignment at various locations. His stateside assignment were Cannon AFB, New Mexico; Langley AFB, Virginia; Webb ARB, Texas and Loring AFB, Maine. He also had a tour as a USAF recruiter in Charleston, West Virginia.

He worked for Lockheed Aircraft in the Middle East. He worked at E-Systems/Raytheon/L-3 and retired in February 2004.

In August 1966 he married the love of his life, Louise Taylor, at Langley AFB, Virginia. They were married 51 years when she passed in December 2017. In March 2021, he married Marinez Davieau in Greenville, Texas.

He loved to travel and RV. He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church of Greenville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise and his parents; two brothers, Ricky and Victor and one sister, Hazel.

He is survived by his second wife, Marinez; sisters, Elise of Mt Morris, Michigan, Pat of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Manistee and husband, Alan of Michigan; brother, Emory and wife, Jan of Swartz Creek, Michigan; sons, Gary and wife, Linda of Manassas, Virginia; and Steven of Greenville, Texas; step-daughters, Teena and Missy; step-son, Dave; five grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Daniel, Tristan and Tyra; step-grandchildren, Matt and Zach; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until service time. Then, there will be a visitation at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton, West Virginia with a memorial service to follow.
Interment will be at the Arborvale Cemetery, Arborvale, West Virginia.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hardy, Jerry Anderson, Tristan Blasingame, Steven Rockafellow, Gary Taylor and David Cook.

So very sorry for your loss. We were cousins and I knew him as Gale although he said everyone else called him Rocky. The Air Force kept our families separated but I do have some childhood memories maybe with a motorcycle?
My condolences to all the family. May he rest in peace. God bless you all.
