I´ve known Eddie since kindergarten. Sleepovers Cub Scouts, youth baseball... I´ve known him for most all of my life. Eddie was a great guy, he had so much skill and talent, he had a successful business that he told me about when I saw him at Home Depot here in this picture back in 2017. We picked up right where we left off although we hadn´t seen each other in probably 25 years.
Such a great guy...he will be missed.

Eddie and I were great friends when we were kids. We were just a few blocks away from each other. Shorter if you cut through the yard of the family with the trampoline we used to all play on. He and Mike and I were pretty inseparable during grade school. So many great memories of him and his family and his golden retrievers. Sleepovers, backyard camping, exploring the vacant lots, BB guns, wrist rockets, fireworks, out too long and too late on our bikes, getting sick eating the mulberries out behind his house. I hate that we lost touch. The last time we talked was when Mike passed. Also far too early. My heart breaks for all of you left behind.

I first met Eddie in 1980 when his parents brought him along with his sister, Julie, who was dating my college buddy and lifelong friend, John Cain, for a KU/KState football game. [Julie joined the lifelong friend list that day too.] The Semples were a fun, boisterous, force of nature of a family, that just being around made the sting of losing the game, as the Hawks have continued to do mostly since, somewhat bearable. I have been keeping Eddie, his family, and all the Cains and Semples in my daily Rosary since receiving the shocking news of Eddie´s untimely passing. For a husband and father, a man like Eddie is a model. The Eddie described in his obituary is the Eddie I knew. May Christ´s peace rain down on everyone Eddie loved.
