Edward Socha Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home - Yardley on Nov. 19, 2025.
Edward James Socha, 81, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born on August 18, 1944, in Ludlow, Massachusetts, Ed proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, earning repeated recognition for his dedication and service. Following his military career, he continued to support naval operations through his work in engineering, maintenance, and acquisitions until his retirement. Beyond his professional life, Ed enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, and tending to his impeccably kept property. Above all, he was a beloved family man.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Lois (Canterino) Socha; his children, Albert Socha (wife Chantell) and Kimberly Taylor (husband Rowan); his grandchildren, Keira and Taylor; and his brother, Theodore.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. You are welcome to pay respects from 10am with the service beginning at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

Ed will be remembered for his quiet strength, his stoic approach to life's challenges, his steadfast devotion to family and friends, and the surprisingly cheeky sense of humor he revealed once you truly got to know him.

Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.

I am very sad to hear of Ed´s passing. I work for Ed at Starr Associates and Seacor in Camden and Mt. Laurel. Ed taught me the work of business and being a professional. He was a true mentor and respected boss. I have carried his lessons and wisdoms with me over the last forty years. Many many of my employees over the years were subjected to Ed mannerisms, exasperated look on his face, holding his hands in the air in shock, and acting like we were torturing him by not finishing tasks on time. We were a young crew and Ed was the right guy to guide us. We had a great time, got the job done and he oversaw everything. I saw Ed occasionally over the years, but not nearly enough. I am sorry for Ed´s family as he was a dedicated family man. Most of all he was a Good Man. I am sad and I will miss my friend. Rest easy brother, it is time to rest and let others "man the watch".
