Edward Joseph Stachyra, Jr., 77 of Bridgeport passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Wheeling Hospital. He was born May 12, 1948, in Wheeling, the son of the late Edward J. and Elizabeth Ann (Terhlen) Stachyra, Sr.
He was a retired coal miner with 28 years of service for the Consol Coal Company, working in both the Windser and Rose Valley mines. A veteran of the United States Army, serving his country doing 2 tours of duty in the Vietnam War, he received the Army Accommodation Medal and 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster medal. He was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wolfhurst, a lifetime member of the PNA Lodge, DAV Post 117- Bellaire, American Legion #227, Polish American Political Club-Fairpoint, and a life member of the VFW Post St. Clairsville #5356, also he was a great fan of the Chicago White Sox.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 16 years, Rose Mary (Lutz) Stachyra, children, Lisa (Ronnie) Durrah, Michelle (John) Tucker, Charles (Jamie) Lutz, Donald (Gladys) Lutz and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren complete his family.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8, at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, Ohio 43912. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11am at the funeral home, with the Fr. John Mucha officiating. Full Military Graveside services provided by the Belmont County Veterans Association at the Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
