I have very fond memories of your mom and dad living down the street from them at 1238 Park Avenue. I took my husband , Wilmer Umland, and your dad down to the Union Station in Chicago as they left for their training in the Coast Guard. They were headed for Manhattan Island in New York. I was very appreciative of Ed sending me the newspaper clipping of my 50th wedding anniversary. I talked to him on the telephone and at the end I talked to his caregiver when his hearing was gone. I have often asked Ray Siebert about him. At 100,I could not drive to see him. Your family is in my heart and prayers.

Growing up in the Heights, Uncle Eddie always had a smile and a healthy handshake to share. Visiting he and Auntie Gloria was always a special time. I remember riding bicycles from Grandma Nora's (her sister) house with my Cousin Michael to visit. If we were on our bikes, we knew the first stop had to be to visit Auntie Gloria and Uncle Eddie. We knew we'd be loved and fed if we were hungry. It's difficult to fully express the love these to shared with the world. But let's just say they were beyond their time in their ability to embrace the many changes they experienced over there life time. Together they showed the world what love of family is. They will likely not be a better example ever. Thank you for love and acceptance you showed me Uncle Eddie; you never missed a beat! May you rest in the peace you showed the world. - Mari, Angela's Daughter.

It seemed like Eddie was going to be with us forever. 104 years is wow for a truly great guy. Eddie worked for me part time back in the 70's. I learned later that our friend Pauline was his daughter. What a small world. It was an honor to have known him.

Ed was family to us along with Gloria who called us ladies (Mama). We have always enjoyed celebrating milestone birthdays with Ed and The Strzelec Family. 104 years...amazing life and our mom at 100 years. I had the priviledge to see Ed in the hallways at Chicago Heights School District 170 where we both worked and we would embrace with the staff always wondering how we were related. We will miss you Ed. Our deepest condolences to the Strzelec Family.
