Edward J. Swanger, 86, of Myerstown, died Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Hershey Medical Center.

He was the husband of Sheila R. (Weik) Swanger, to whom he married on June 6, 1964.

Born in Myerstown, PA on March 22, 1939, he was a son of the late Grover and Olive (Moyer) Swanger.

He was a 1958 graduate of Myerstown High School, served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a mechanic at Bayer Corp. Myerstown, PA., for 39 years retiring in 2004.

Edward and his wife Sheila were avid golfers and bowlers. He loved his dogs. Edward was a member of the Myerstown Rod & Gun Club and the Goodwill Fire Co., Myerstown. He was elected to the bowling fall of fame.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by, a sister, Josephine, wife of Richard Kohr, of Myerstown; a brother, Ronald P. Swanger, husband of Sandy, of Myerstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by half brothers Richard, Harold and Geary Wolfe and sister Irene Lucas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assn. P.O. Box 1263 or Zion United Methodist Church 22 E. Main Ave. Myerstown, PA 17067 or Humane Society of Lebanon County 150 N. Ramona Road Myerstown, PA 17067.
