John Edward Carley, 59, of Myerstown, PA, died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his residence.

He was the husband of Desaree W. (Schiffert) Carley. They celebrated 18 years of marriage on July 21, 2025.

Born in Upper Darby, PA on March 5, 1966, he was the son of Elizabeth (Gladysiewski) Carley, of Hanover, PA and the late John L. Carley.

John was a 1984 graduate of South Western High School, Hanover, PA. He continued his education, earning his Bachelors Degree, from Millersville University, Millersville, PA .

John retired after 32 years, as a wood shop teacher, for ELCO High School. He was also an ELCO football coach for over 30 years.

John was a member of Richland American Legion, Mt. Aetna Fire Co., Goodwill Fire Co., & Newmanstown Athletic Assn.

He enjoyed being the wood shop teacher, cooking, watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Michigan, drinking beer with friends, and his cat, Cutie.

In addition to his wife and mother, John is survived by his children, Zachary Carley, Braden Carley, William Stahlman husband of Kaitlyn Stahlman, Julie Stahlman, Nicole Reigel, & Tommy Simons; grandchildren, Stella, William, & Lorelai; a sister LeeAnn Zeroth; and nephews, Joshua & Jake Zeroth.
