George R. Claman, 79, of Bethel, PA, died Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

He was the husband of Mae J. Claman, to whom he was married 56 years on March 8, 2025.

Born in Mt. Aetna, PA on April 20, 1946, he was a son of the late John and Kathryn (Long) Claman.

A 1965 graduate of Bethel High School, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. George was employed as a carpenter for A. H. Moyer, Myerstown, retiring after 20 years. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by a daughter, Jeanette, wife of Dale Woodward, of Bethel; sons, John, husband of Marlene Claman, of Lebanon, James, husband of Heather Claman, of Bethel; grandchildren, Eli, Autumn, Zakary, Breanna, and Meg; sisters, Betty Gibble, Lillian Wolf; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Wagner, Mary Claman, Helen Ritzman, Iva Strickler; and brothers, Harold and Russell Claman.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A viewing will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
