Edward "Ed" C. Ulevich, aged 89, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at Liza's Place in Wheeling. Born on July 18, 1935, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who touched the lives of many throughout his life.
Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to service and excellence. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a Senior Purchasing Agent with Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, where he earned respect and admiration from both colleagues and friends.
Deeply rooted in his faith, Ed was a dedicated member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he served as both a lector and an usher. His commitment to community service was evident through his membership in the National Management Association, American Legion Post 1, and the Ostomy Association of Wheeling.
A man of varied interests, Ed found joy in golfing and fishing. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pittsburgh Steelers, passions he shared with many friends and family members.
Ed is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles and Winifred (Edmiston) Ulevich, and his brother, Leonard Ulevich. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Kathy Ulevich; daughters Vicki Rowles of Sun Prairie, WI, and Sheri (Michael) Powell of Loveland, OH; sons E. Charles Ulevich, Jr. (Jill Canode) of Florence, KY, and Ben (Kelly) Ulevich of Southport, NC. He also leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of his 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends during visitation on Friday, November 1, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, with Rev. Carlos L. Melocoton, Jr. as celebrant, followed by entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Liza's Place for their exceptional care and support during Ed's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Contributions can also be made online at www.tmcfunding.com.

Ed was genuinely an outstanding individual. He was a consummate professional at work but more importantly had a terrific sense of humor even in difficult times. Cool Ule was one of the really good guys! He was my friend. Prayers and thoughts with Kathy and his family. Best...
