John Ulevich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Czopek Funeral Directors on Jan. 23, 2026.
John Joseph Ulevich, a lifelong resident of Wyandotte and a proud graduate of Wyandotte Roosevelt High School, passed away at the age of 90. Born and raised in the community he loved, John lived a life marked by dedication, grit, and an adventurous spirit. John's roots in Wyandotte ran deep. He went to most of the Wyandotte City Council meetings and was pretty much a spokesman for the neighborhood. He made his mark as an athlete and competitor. He rowed for both Mt. Carmel and Roosevelt High School, embracing the discipline and teamwork that would shape the rest of his life. Beyond athletics, John was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were more than hobbies-they were lifelong passions that connected him to nature and to the friends and family who shared the experience with him. Never one to shy away from excitement, John also enjoyed racing motorcycles on motocross tracks and racing open frame dragsters at the dragstrip, earning admiration for his skill, fearlessness, and mechanical know how. John dedicated 20 years of his professional life to Wyandotte Chemicals (later BASF), where he built strong relationships and took pride in his work. He is survived by his loving nephew, David (Beverly) Kimery, who remained close to John throughout his life. Also, all his loving neighbors who will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his two sisters and one brother, with whom he is now reunited. John will be remembered for his humor, his unwavering loyalty, and his devotion to both his family and his community. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
