Edward Louis Wernholm, Jr.

Negaunee Township

Edward 'Louie' Wernholm, Jr., 77, of Negaunee Township, passed away Friday afternoon, September 26, 2025 at UP Health System Marquette.

Louie was born February 3, 1948 in Ishpeming to Edward L. 'Tux' and Aino I. (Maunula) Wernholm, Sr. and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1966. He was employed at Symons Hardware in Negaunee prior to working for CCI at the Republic Mine until he was forced to retire due to a work accident. Louie married Beverly Juidici on April 24, 1976 and they built their home and raised their family on North Basin Drive.

In his early years, Louie enjoyed fishing, waterskiing and scuba diving. He learned to fly with Mike and Hartley Haines and was hours from earning his pilot's license. He was a talented mechanic and enjoyed working on small engines. He loved country music, western movies, and most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly; sons: Andrew (Becky) of Ishpeming, Adam (Lauren) of Negaunee and Aaron of Negaunee Township; two grandsons: Evan and Colton Wernholm; brothers: Alan of Negaunee Township and Lee (Sandy) of Davison; his sister, Nancy Hakkarainen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Nathan; brother, Darrel; and nephew, Noah Wernholm.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 2nd at Bethany Lutheran Church in Negaunee. Rev. Lloyd Luedeman will officiate. A dessert reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
