Edward passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at home. Age 75 years. Edward Charles Wurtzel was born on June 20, 1949, in Saginaw to the late Edmund C. and Sarah A. (Welch) Wurtzel. He was married to Debra K. Hopper on March 6, 1971, in Saginaw. She survives him. Edward was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #497 Shields, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #82. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his dog, Bogie.
Besides his wife, Debra, Edward is survived by three children, Brigette Wurtzel, Edward (Tonya) Wurtzel, and Angie Wurtzel, all of Saginaw; two grandchildren, Hannah (Tommy) Bennett, of Kiel, Wisconsin, and Madison Welsh, of Saginaw; one great-grandchild, Madden Jae (MJ) Welsh; two brothers and one sister, Randy (Karen) Wurtzel, Pat (Alice) Wurtzel, and Sue (Jerry) Baker, and their families; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, where Fr. Robert Byrne will lead a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the City Rescue Mission at https://rescuemidmichigan.org/donate/
