Edwin (Ned) Irwin, 87, of Bethel Twp passed away on August 28, 2025. Born February 18, 1938, he was the son of the late John Richard Irwin and Mildred (Jack) Irwin.
Prior to his marriage to the late Donna (Shoop) Irwin on November 5,1960 he resided in Clinton (Freeport) with his late Aunt Verna (Jack) Hartman. He was a resident of Bethel Twp for 65 years. After the passing of his wife, Ned relocated to Mt. Wolf where he resided with his son, Chris until his death. During this chapter of his life, he was able to enjoy more leisurely time with his family.
As a child living near the Allegheny River, he developed a passion for the water not only for recreation, but also for his livelihood. He spent his entire adult life working on the river, beginning his career on tow boats and concluding on the dredge, Allegheny.
He was employed by Davison Sand and Gravel for over 42 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where he served on church council for several years. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Armstrong County Food Bank.
His favorite pastimes were riding his motorcycle at every opportunity and spending time with his family. He enjoyed the casinos, 3 Musketeer bars, and coffee.
Ned was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a friend to all who knew him. He will be remembered for being a generous and kind man with a love of candy and a contagious laugh. He is survived by his children Christopher A. Irwin of Mt. Wolf; Shari (Irwin) Glass and her husband Todd of Hamburg; and one grandchild Dakota Glass.
A private service is being held at Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home, Apollo Pa for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church, Ford City Pa.
