Edwin Byron Judd, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 30th, 2025. Ed was born on July 27th, 1939, in Seymour Indiana to Nellie and Byron Judd.

After finishing school at Seymour High, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington shortly before re-acquainting himself with his wife Michele Jane (Micki Ashcraft) Judd during a snowball fight at the local park. Ed regaled his family with tales of his early entrepreneurial days as the owner of the Frost Top. His love of business and bowling were inspired by his work at B.J Lucky Lanes owned by his father Byron Judd. He and Micki moved briefly to Louisville where Ed finished a technical degree in computer sciences. He took a job at Regal Rugs in North Vernon as a Computer Programmer where he enjoyed a long career. His knowledge of the systems required for the business led him through the ranks at Regal Rugs to Vice President of Operations where he eventually retired, from Regal Rugs; Readicut Industries.

Ed was always selflessly involved in bringing improvements to his community from the time he moved to North Vernon and long beyond his retirement. This included being a dedicated servant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, working tirelessly to bring about an elected school board to Jennings County, improving access to healthcare through his instrumental work in opening the Jennings Community Hospital, and tremendous support of the Job Corp to ensure quality jobs for the community. He was influential in the careers of several prominent politicians supporting their campaigns and agendas throughout Southern Indiana and beyond. Post retirement from Regal Rugs, he served as the County Auditor for eight years and he provided free-lance computer systems work for local businesses.

If you knew Ed, you knew he had a sense of humor. His wit and smile never failed to make people laugh. Nurses who cared for Ed at his weakest moments found his humor charming. Beyond bowling, and fishing at hole #9, he loved tinkering around his house, watching old movies and reading just about any genre. He loved his family and lived to serve them. He was a consummate host and enjoyed serving guests at his home. Ed was unflappable, selfless, and full of wit and humor always. And his two little buddies Cracker and Cotton who he adored.

Ed was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Byron Judd, his brother and sister-in-law Lee (Alice) Judd, his sister Mary Ruth (Ed) Kolbe, his sister Marilyn Wheeler, his sisters-in-law Judy (Larry) Schmidt, and Susie (Junior) Wager, his brother-in-law Hubie (Becky) Ashcraft. He is survived by two children, Andrew Lee Judd (Lisa) – Scipio and Jill Suzanne Judd Massonne (Michael) - Avon, five grandchildren Morgan Likens (Adam) - North Vernon, Lindsey Judd – Scipio, Hannah Massonne - Tampa, Jason Judd (Sara) - Hayden, Harrison Massonne (Bethany) - Cicero, and four great grand-daughters, Larkin and Lauryn Likens, and Elle and Anne Judd, sister Mildred (Steve) Cooley, brother-in-law Joseph (Toby) Ashcraft, 19 nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will have a private memorial celebration of life at home.
