Edwin Hurley McKimmy

McKimmy, Edwin Hurley of Flushing, age 80, died Tuesday, October 1, 2025, at Majestic Care of Flushing. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Flushing Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Tuesday at Flushing Presbyterian Church until the time of the service at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Athletic Boosters.
Edwin was born in Midland, Michigan on November 22, 1944, the son of Hurley and Frances (Link) McKimmy. After his mother's death when Ed was a child, he and his brother, Doyle, moved to Flushing and were raised by Lloyd and Edith Mead. They owned Flushing Cleaners and Edwin worked there growing up. Ed graduated from Flushing High School, class of 1963, where he excelled in basketball. He received his bachelor's degree from Greenville College in Illinois. Ed worked for several years as a Teacher at Central Elementary for Flushing Schools before becoming an Insurance Agent for State Farm. He loved being a basketball referee for high school, college, and the WNBA Shock. He was inducted into the Flushing High School Basketball Hall of Fame. Ed also enjoyed playing golf. He was a people person and loved talking to people wherever he went and was so generous to everyone.
Edwin is survived by his sons, Matt and wife Emily McKimmy, Ryan and wife Lisa McKimmy; grandchildren, Isabelle, Morgan, Paisley, Quinn, Tatum; brother, Doyle and wife Nancy McKimmy; nephew, Jason McClasky; his close MHSAA basketball referees and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Hurley McKimmy and Lloyd and Edith Mead.
