Edwin (Eddie) Shafer passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and was called home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born on June 30, 1943 in Aurora, Illinois. He was the loving and devoted husband of Christine (Chrissy) Shafer for 53 years.
He was a West Aurora High School graduate and also attended the University of Illinois and John Marshall Law School for 2 years. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on January 8, 1970. He worked at the family drug store, retiring in 2008.
He lived a long and joy-filled life shared with family and friends. He was an exceptionally loving husband, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed tennis, hiking, camping, and his motorcycle. He loved the Chicago Cubs and all other sports. He enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida and Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Blanche Shafer, and his brother John. A private gathering in his memory will be held at a later date. Sad to read of Ed's passing. Upon my first meeting him at the drug store, I knew he was a man who brought happiness to everyone he met. What a great smile, warm laugh and true interest in those he came to know as they entered his world via that front door on Galena!! Hope he's enjoying a bit of tennis and riding that motorcycle. Thank you for the great memories, Ed.

Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. I truly pray that your memories of Ed will always be with you and bring you peace in the coming days. In just the few short days that I had the pleasure of knowing you, Ed, Peter and Bethany, I could just see and feel the love you all had for one another. You have a wonderful family. God Bless, Patty

Chrissy and Family, Jenny and I are so sorry for your loss. Ed was always upbeat and happy. I can still see him behind the fountain bar at drug store in early 70's! He will be missed by so many.
