Edwin I. Walker, 90, of Spencer, formerly Stanley, departed this life in the late evening hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Marshfield Medical Center-Marshfield. Ed was born in Eagle River on May 7, 1935 to the late Oran and Thelma (Rice) Walker. He attended grade school and high school in Eau Claire, WI. After graduating from high school, he attended college at Wisconsin State University Eau Claire where he graduated in January 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

He married the love of his life, Leora Haldeman, on March 22, 1958, in Norwalk, WI, sharing 67 wonderful years of marriage. In April 1958, Ed entered the US Marine Corp as a Second Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp in September 1961 as a Captain and began his career as a high school teacher at Stanley-Boyd school system the following year. He retired after 32 years of teaching in June 1994.

Ed and his wife enjoyed their retirement traveling throughout the United States. They spent their winters at their home in Benson, AZ and summers at their cabin on Lake Wissota. Ed loved to travel and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Ed's legacy will go on through the wisdom he shared with his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he made a difference in.

Forever held in their hearts, Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Leora Walker of Spencer; his children, Jamison (Shirley) Walker of Rockland, Randy (Michelle) Walker of Foley, AL, Terri (Jerome) Wienke of Spencer and Chris (Hope) Walker of Spooner; his sister, Jane (Darrell) Kleven of Eleva; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Never thought my freshman history teacher teacher would become my good friend. But later I became his barber, then his neighbor, first across the street from him and Lee in Benson. Then later down the street by Lake Wissota. We had such great times eating on the balcony in Mexico while laughing over a margarita. We'll miss you Ed, but we won't forget you.
Dolly and I send our love to Lee and the kids. Great family.
