Virginia Edwinna Jean Dobson May 8th, 1945 – November 22nd, 2025
Virginia Edwinna Jean (Kirby) Dobson, known to her loved ones as Jeannie, was born on May 8, 1945, in Bonham, Texas, to Johnnie Virginia (Burns) Kirby and Lloyd Kirby. On March 3, 1967, she married the love of her life, Joe Dobson, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, sharing an anniversary with his maternal grandparents.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James; her niece, Amy; and her nephew, Max. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe; her daughter, Misti and husband Lance; her grandchildren, Cole and wife Madi, Hadley and fiancé Micah; and her great-grandchildren, Baker and Lyla. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kaye and husband Dick; nephews Brian, Jimmy, Larry, Kevin, and Brant; and nieces Renee and husband Jason, and Katie.
A talented artist, crafter, and interior decorator, Jeannie's creativity touched many lives. She enjoyed reading, cooking, quilting, flower arranging, off-road jeeping, decorating for holidays, and giving beautifully wrapped gifts adorned with her homemade bows. Her artwork was exhibited at the Festival of the Arts and Affair of the Heart on several occasions. Jeannie was also proud to serve as the first president of the Mustang Parent Teacher Organization.
Known by her grandchildren as "Winnie," this name quickly became what most everyone who knew and loved her called her. Winnie lived with a servant's mindset and always sought to put others above herself. She read with students every week at Mustang Valley while her grandchildren attended school there. Whenever you needed her, she would be there-whether it was a ride and a meal, planting wheat at the farm, or just an "I love you more, Darlin'" with a hug and a kiss. She will be missed by all who knew her. "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
