Effie Corrine McCartney

Corrine E. McCartney, formerly of Wood River, NE, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Elizabeth City, NC, at the age of 87. Corrine was born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938, in Riverton, WY, to the late Norris Ibach and Irene Rollings Ibach. At a very early age, the family moved back to the Sumner, NE area, and Corrine attended and graduated from Sumner High School in 1956. Corrine was the second of seven children. She had two sisters, Dottie and Patricia, and four brothers, Richard (Dick), Jack, Max, and Jim. On March 1, 1959, she married Mack McCartney in Overton, NE, and together, they raised three boys. Corrine and Mack resided in Overtone, NE, Sacramento, CA, Gibbon, NE, and finally settled in Wood River, NE, in 1970. After her husband's death in 1988, Corrine remained in Wood River until 2019, when she moved to NC to be closer to her family.
Corrine is survived by her sons, Bill (Laurie) McCartney of Kersey, CO, Jeff (Barbara) McCartney of Hephzibah, GA, and David (Tonni) McCartney of Shiloh, NC; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard Ibach of Sumner, NE; and her sister, Patricia McDonald of Bellevue, NE.
Corrine's ashes will be scattered in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
