Efrain 'Vetch' Rodriguez

Efrain ‘Vetch’ Rodriguez, 71, of Calhoun Falls, SC, died Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at his home. He was born in Mesa Grande, Mexico to Concepción Montoya Rodriguez and the late Heliodoro Rodriguez.

Vetch, as he was affectionately known, dedicated his life to his career as a farrier, a trade that he approached with passion and skill. His love for horses was evident, and throughout his life, he immersed himself in all aspects of the rodeo, where he was proud to be recognized as a Roping Champion. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Vetch is survived by two daughters, Amanda Rodriguez and Tracy Rodriguez Medina (Jaime); eleven siblings; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:30PM, Sunday, December 28, 2025, in the Lawrence Family Cemetery, Calhoun Hill Road, Abbeville, SC with Friend and Missionary Shane Duncan and Mr. Tim Haynie officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Vetch, may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.

The family is at the home of his brother, Mario and Marie Rodriguez in Calhoun Falls.
