Eileen Atencio

Eileen E. Atencio, age 68, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Eileen was born on June 24, 1957, in Embudo, New Mexico, to John and Aurora Mondragon. A devoted Catholic and lifelong learner, she earned her Master’s degree in Education and dedicated her life to serving others as an educator, touching countless lives with her patience, kindness, and commitment to learning.

Eileen was known for her strong faith, her love of family, and her pride in the community. She enjoyed horse back riding with the Caballeros Club, embracing fellowship, tradition, and the joy of watching her children play sports.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Atencio; her children, John, Jessica, and Steven; and her cherished grandchildren, Maddison, JohnnyRay Jr., Leonard John, Jason, Joseph, Jadiel, Jacob, Alicia, Makkayla, Matthew, and Amanda, who were a constant source of joy in her life.

She is also survived by her siblings, Joseph Mondragon and Minerva Murphy.

Eileen’s life was a reflection of faith, service, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
