Eileen Bates Obituary

Eileen was born in the Berkshire Valley section of Jefferson Twp. and lived there all her life until moving to Mt. Arlington three years ago.
Ms. Bates graduated Roxbury High School, Class of 1952 and was a secretary for the V.P. of JCP&L located in Convent Station. She retired in 1994 after 40 years of service.
Eileen was a lifelong, active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley where she was an Elder, Deacon & Choir Director. She also assisted with the music during Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Presbyterian Women.
Predeceased by her parents: Daniel E. Sr. and Katheryn Bates
Brothers: John, Donald, Charles and Raymond Bates
Sisters: Betty Haycock, Margaret Bostedo, Maurietta Estler and Patricia Thompson.
Survived by her brothers: Daniel E. Jr., William, and Gerald Bates
Sisters: Jane Kish, Joan Fogg and Muriel Thompson.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Visitation will be held 2-5pm on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A funeral service will be held 11am on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley, 635 Berkshire Valley Rd., Wharton, NJ 07885.
Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.

We are so sorry to hear of Eileen´s passing, but God has received another saint. Her Christian spirit, quick wit and smile along with her love of music, her lovely alto voice and years of dedicated service as choir director will remain our positive memories of her. She was a friend to both of us although Nick always refused her invitation for him to join the choir! It was a privilege to know her as long as we did. She will be missed.
