Eileen Campbell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home - Yardley on Dec. 13, 2025.
Eileen Campbell, 76, of Bensalem, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at Huntingdon Valley Nursing Home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Eileen will be remembered for her gift of storytelling, quick wit and contagious laughter that could brighten any room.

Born on May 8, 1949, in Philadelphia to Joseph and Mary Murphy, Eileen grew up in the Kensington neighborhood. She attended Visitation Elementary School and was a proud graduate of Little Flower High School for Girls, a place that remained close to her heart throughout her life. It was there that she formed lifelong friendships and developed the sense of camaraderie and compassion that defined her.

Eileen married her beloved husband, Thomas Campbell, and together they built a beautiful life over 56 years of marriage. They raised three children – Thomas, Brian and Mary Kate. Later she embraced the role she cherished most as "Grammy" to Ian, Liam, Jude and Owen. Whether she was cheering from the sidelines or sharing stories around the kitchen table, she relished every moment spent in their company.

A lifelong learner, Eileen was the embodiment of perseverance and reinvention. While raising her children and navigating a busy career, she pursued her English Degree at LaSalle University, a goal she was deeply proud of. Her professional career began as a secretary and later as an accomplished member of Development and Annual Giving teams at Einstein Hospital, Abington Hospital, and Jewish Children and Family Services. There she displayed her creativity, warmth and "gift of gab", forming lasting connections with colleagues and donors alike. After completing her college degree, Eileen found joy in substitute teaching throughout Bucks County. The students affectionately called her "Grandmom" a tribute to the care and humor she brought into every classroom.

Eileen is survived by her husband, Thomas Campbell; her children Thomas Campbell (Jennifer), Brian Campbell, and Mary Kate Davis; her brothers, Joseph Murphy (Linda) and William Murphy (Clare); her treasured grandchildren Ian, Liam, Jude and Owen as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Murphy.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, PA 19067. Calling hours will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eileen's name to Little Flower High School for Girls, honoring the place where her enduring love of learning and friendship began.

Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.

I loved your mom! I have such wonderful memories of her from my childhood! She had the funniest stories and that contagious laugh. She was the best. I am heartbroken for all of you.

There are so many high school and after stories and memories I have of life with Eileen. From the high school victory parties to our proms and meeting at the Diner on Friday nights, going to North Catholic basketball games and shows the fun was endless, the birth of our children, parties on Windish Street, the dogs that all seem to have some kind of health problem that didn´t matter Tom and Eileen were all an adventure.
She loved watching and spoiling the living daylights of my dog, Jo Jo.
We went into our senior years still together whether it was attending shows or dinner or just getting together always came with her laughing while telling a story. I´ll miss you dearly my friend. You certainly were one of a kind.

I'm so saddened to know you are gone. I wish I could have said goodbye but it was not to be. All our friends grieve that you have passed. We all wish to be there but sadly we are too far away. So goodbye dear friend. Know that you were loved
