Eileen M. Dombroski, 70, of Howell, passed away at her home on Thursday surrounded by her loving family.
Eileen was born in the Bronx and raised in Irvington, NJ. She graduated from Marylawn of the Oranges. She would then go on to graduate from Trenton State College with a BSN in nursing. She was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force as part of the Nurse Corps. Eileen served as a Flight Nurse in the Air Force caring for many patients around the world and at Lackland Air Force Base.
After leaving the Air Force at the rank of Captain, Eileen worked in hospitals and private nursing in New Jersey. She cared for many patients over the years, but with a special place in her heart for pediatric nursing.
Eileen married the love of her life, Frank, in 1984, and the two moved to Howell to raise their young family. She enjoyed the beach, traveling, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her husband Frank Dombroski; her children Christopher Dombroski and his wife Yuridia, and Holly Chalfant and her husband Jesse, her stepmother Kathleen Mullins; her sisters Sue, Patty, Colleen, Kerry, Erin, Meggan and Mary Kate and their families; and her beloved grandchildren Caelan, Celia, Francis and Sophia.
Visitation will be Monday, July 28th from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A mass will be held at St. Veronica Church, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell, New Jersey, on Tuesday, July 29th at 10am. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
